As the air turns crisper and the colors warmer, fall’s arrival signals a magical season in Clark County that beckons us outdoors. The promise of cozy sweaters, the subtle scent of fallen leaves, and the anticipation of pumpkin-spiced everything – it’s a time of year that stirs excitement in the hearts of all. So, without further ado, let’s dive headfirst into the cornucopia of fall activities that Clark County has laid out for us.
#1 Have Fun at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill Apple Cider Pressing

For the past three decades, the Apple Cider Pressing has been one of the most cherished fall activities for families around the county. Rain or shine, this annual tradition draws crows to the scenic Grist Mill along Cedar Creek. It’s a perennial favorite for painters and photographers alike, offering a canvas of rustic charm and natural beauty.
Starting at 9 in the morning, the line stretches beyond the iconic covered bridge, as families vie for a chance to join over a dozen dedicated volunteers in the cider-pressing process. Younger visitors can witness the transformation of nearly four tons of apples into delicious, freshest ciders you’ll find in these parts. Guests are invited to partake in the final step: operating the press, turning the hand screw to extract every drop of juice.
If you play an instrument, you can come and join the Bluegrass Jam on the back deck. This event is just one of the many delightful affairs held at the mill year-round. The Cedar Creek Grist Mill’s Apple Cider Pressing is on the top of my list for a reason – it’s a heartwarming, hands-on experience you won’t want to miss.
#2 Prost! To Oktoberfest at Alderbrook Park!

Admission: $12 for adults; $8 for kids ages 4-13 (3 and under are free)
Oktoberfest at Alderbrook Park is more than just a celebration of beer; it’s a festivity of delicious cuisine, music, dancing, family fun, and a whole lot more. This festival is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor a day of great food and entertainment in Clark County.
Now let’s talk about the real stars of the show: the food and the beer. To quench your thirst and hunger the park features Bavarian foods, Beer Gardens, Food Trucks, and tons of vendors. There are a variety of contests throughout the day like a cornhole tournament, chicken dance, weiner dog races, and other family games.
There’s also a plethora of live entertainment including Jennifer Batten & Full Steam and Smilin’ Scandinavians. Train rides, pedal boats, mini golf, play structures, swimming pool, and bounce houses are included with your admission.
#3 Have a Spook-tacular Time at Bi-Zi Farms’ Nighttime Corn Maze
When: Fridays & Saturdays, September 23 to October 28, 2023, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Admission: $16.95 for ages 3 and up; $14.95 for 62+ and those with a valid military ID
Step into a world of enchantment and fun at the Nighttime Corn Maze, a highly anticipated feature of the Pumpkin Patch & Harvest Festival at Bi-Zi Farms. Celebrating the farm’s rural heritage and bountiful harvest, this event is definitely a must-do in autumn.
As the crown jewel of the festival, the Nighttime Corn Maze draws visitors of all ages. It’s a thrilling adventure, both challenging and fun, designed to entertain without overwhelming. It’s a perfect way to bond with families and friends and soak in the crisp autumn air.
But that’s not all – the farm also offers an array of activities included with each paid entry such as a wagon ride, fresh apple cider sampling, and access to children’s activities which include hoppity-hop races, pedal tractor driving, calf roping, and so much more. There is also live music (weekends), one free pumpkin, and one free hot drink (coffee, hot chocolate, or spiced apple cider).
#4 Join the Old Apple Tree Festival
When: October 7, 2023, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Vancouver’s renowned Old Apple Tree Festival where the legendary Old Apple Tree will once again be celebrated. Planted at Fort Vancouver in 1826, the venerable tree is considered the oldest apple tree in the Northwest and the matriarch of the apple industry of Washington.
The festival which will be held at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is a free, family-friendly event that features live music, hands-on arts and crafts, apple tasting, and numerous food and apple vendors.
It’s a unique way to embrace the season, immerse yourself in history, and indulge in various treats. The Old Apple Tree Festival is an ideal fall celebration for apple lovers and curious minds alike.
#5 Enjoy the Pumpkin Patch and Hayrides at Pomeroy Farm’s Pumpkin Lane
When: 10 AM to 4 PM every Saturday and Sunday throughout October
Where: 20902 NE Lucia Falls Rd, Yacolt, WA 98675
Admission: $7 for adults; $5 for kids ages 3-11 (2 & under are free)
Celebrate the essence of the season at Pomeroy Farm’s Pumpkin Lane – a beloved autumn spectacle in Clark County. Among the festive backdrop, make the most out of their many photo ops, delve into the rich history of the farm, meet farm animals, explore several kids’ activities, and hand-pick the perfect pumpkin.
Hop on a hayride down Pumpkin Lane, where you’ll encounter whimsical “pumpkin people” scenes. Don’t fret about treats and refreshments – the farm features food and coffee vendors on-site (some vendors may accept cash only, no ATM available). Note that parking is absolutely free and pumpkins are sold separately.
For extra thrill, experience the Pumpkin Lane After Dark on the 6th and 20th of October. This exciting evening event brings unique twists to the cherished tradition. So mark your calendars and be part of this not-to-be-missed fall magic.
#6 Take a Scenic Train Ride
Fall in Clark County casts a magical spell that transforms the lush green landscape into a stunning scenery of autumnal hues. To truly embrace and appreciate this seasonal spectacle, hop on the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad Fall Leaves Special Excursions on October 7 and 8, 2023.
As you embark on this journey, you’ll be greeted by a kaleidoscope of fall foliage. Aboard the steam train, you’ll run through a 330-foot solid rock tunnel, traverse woodlands, to the Heisson area, and stop at Moulton Station to marvel at Yacolt Falls. It’s a scenic and nostalgic adventure that captures the essence of the season, promising vibrant colors, crisp air, and a touch of history all in one ride.
The train will depart each day at Noon and 2:30 PM from the train station in Yacolt, WA. Tickets are $22 for adults, $16 for youth (3-12), and $21 for military or senior citizens (60+).
